About The Leave Guy

My name is Estervelle Bennett. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Georgia in 2007.

My FMLA experience started at Home Depot after a customer noticed my passion for helping people and encouraged me to pursue a corporate role. That led me into a position answering employee FMLA questions in a call center.

I was later promoted to Research Associate, serving as a second-tier escalation resource for more complex FMLA questions and leave-related issues.

After Home Depot, I continued working with FMLA and workplace leave processes through roles at ADP, Genuine Parts Company, and REEF Technology.

I created The Leave Guy to help employees better understand FMLA, disability benefits, state leave programs, HR communication, and job protection concerns in plain language.
